Calgary Mock-Ups

Thoughts:

  • What information do you actually want/need? Would it be valuable to force folks to just give more general recommendations (info markers) without super specific pins
  • How many folks are going to want to give comments for each segment? Is it better to just let them do so all on one map, or do we want to section it out?
  • What type of data does it give you?
    • Breaking it into social maps for each segment:
      • You don't have to manually sort them by section. You could look at the type of markers in each segment, in addition to text analysis and export a summary for that segment. But there would still be some manual analysis for specific locations of recommendations.
    • Info markers with surveys all on one:
      • People are forced to generalize a little bit, which means less manual sorting, but you also get less detailed feedback unless they use their comment to specific where a traffic calming intervention should go, for example.
      • You can filter in the form by info marker title (segment) and export results to analyze the text or any multiple choice responses that way.
      • Back-end analysis is a little more limited for Info Marker Form responses. It won't generate any graphics for you. You can analyze the text, but all the comments are aggregated together.
    • Form with multiple maps:
      • Does it break out the map comments individually?
        • Cannot do any of the text analysis in the back end--you'd export the map question comments into an excel and analyze that way. But they'd be sorted for you already by segment.
        • Building the maps is more annoying (but totally feasible)
        • Cannot diversify marker types (is knowing the number of each type of marker valuable information to you?)
